Just sharing.... WARNING: There is a syndicate operating in Midrand, between Sanridge Mall and Carlswald Shopping Centre. What they do is, as you are pushing your trolley, someone will bump you from behind but not just a bump...like this person has tripped and has fallen on you. When this happens, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ASSIST THE PERSON...DO NOT CHIT-CHAT WITH THEM, EVEN WHEN THEY PROFUSELY APOLOGIZE TO YOU!ACKNOWLEDGE THEIR APOLOGY AND KEEP WALKING! I was unfortunately not aware of this scam and what happened next is, insane. I had my one baby girls in the trolley when this man fell on me. He apologized profusely and as I continued to walk he started playing with Lemo and saying how gorgeous she is. This happened literally 3 cars away from mine. When I got to my car, first thing I put my baby in the car and strapped her to her seat before packing the groceries in the boot. My boot door doesnt hold itself up and this gentleman held the door for me and even helped pack the groceries. He seemed harmless and genuinely embarrassed by his fall etc. I closed the boot said goodbye and got into my car. Just as I was to start the car, he jumped into the passenger seat. My first instinct was to scream but I caught a glimpse of Lemo from the rear view mirror and backed down. Another guy came and stopped by the passenger door window and the one inside instructed me to give him my cellphone, money and bank cards with the pins. I calmly did that and he passed the cards to the guy outside. He went to withdraw money and as soon as the notification came through on my phone, he jumped out the car and disappeared. When I was finally able to get passed the shock and horror, I went to the police station and this is where I was informed that this has been happening a lot lately in Noordwyk, Vorna Valley, Halfway Gardens etc. They target women with children, especially babies as they know you will succumb to all instructions when a child is involved. Im hoping to get footage from the banks and the shops they used my cards at and will circulate their pictures. Please be vigilant out there. Have only what you need when doing your shopping and should someone bump into you, just keep walking or walk into the next open store...delay going to your car...if it means walking back and getting a security personnel to escort you to your car, do that...go to a coffee shop and call a friend/partner to come to you...just do not think for one moment that that person is being genuine...rather be safe...than sorry...! Please be careful out there...Sanridge Mall, Carlswald Mall, Midway Mews, Boulders, Spar Vorna Valley etc...Just be careful! Please pass on this to everyone you know...!
