Just signed up for healthcare in the new Health Insurance market . Having gone through the process, I can say personally that the site isnt broken and that reports that it is are way overblown, and at this point I suspect theyre being used to foment anxiety, uncertainty, and doubt among those who probably could most benefit from signing up for health insurance. Theres also much room for improvement. I needed to access the site with Internet Explorer during one important part of the account making process, and only once I went through that could I access my new account using Chrome, Opera, or Firefox. That was weird. There was also a page where there was no standard visual/graphical identifier of what I needed to click on to move forward, no standard link design was used. Eventually I figured it out, but I think others could lose their patience. Finally, kudos to the designers for doing their best to simplify the marketplace since in the final steps to enrollment I was basically in a site where I could compare 60+ different plans organized into four different tiers. It was at this stage that I really missed some simplicity that the individual mandate, I think would have afforded all of us. But alas, this is a marketplace for comparing health care services offered in different plans at different rates, so it was by nature confusing and a hassle. I imagine many people will feel overwhelmed at this stage. It could have been different had the government not settled for a marketplace schema.
