Just some food for thought about the crisis in the Ukraine, but - TopicsExpress

Just some food for thought about the crisis in the Ukraine, but Russia might actually have justification for being in Crimea. Crimea sits at the very narrow mouth of the Sea of Azov. The Sea of Azov connects to 2 major ports in Russia, Taganrog and Yeysk, located on the Baltic Sea. Due to ice, these ports during a good number of months cannot use the Baltic to safely export or import goods or tourists. These ports, along with a good chunk of Russias economy, rely on access in and out of the Sea of Azov for tourism and trade, large parts of Russias economy. With a possible civil war in the Ukraine looming between the EU favoring west, and Russian favoring east, its possible that Russia is protecting their economic life line, access in and out of the Azov, out of fear that if the EU favoring east takes over, they might shut down the access to the Azov, essentially severing Russias economy. I dont support Russians in the Ukraine at all, but there might be a little bit more to the story than an aggressive move towards Ukraine. Just some food for thought.
