Just spent the afternoon experimenting with loading the Harley up for my annual pilgrimage down to European Bike Week. Its 10 years since my first trip & Ive only ever done it on the same bike twice, & never with the same luggage set up, always changing it! Problem is the amount of stuff it has to carry, as well as er indoors on the back, camping for 2 for 10 days. Although Ive done the trip on baggers before, the trouble is that once unloaded, theyre still a big bike; what Ive found with the Fatboy is that it is very adaptable at having soft luggage thrown at it. The only trouble with soft panniers is the damage to the paintwork on frame & belt guard if hung in traditional place, hence the experiment with a new location. Although this will raise the centre of gravity, as Harleys dont handle anyway it wont matter, will it? ;)
