Just spoke to Dr. K. M. Metry (Kannada Univ., Hampi), who is one of the researchers working on the archaeological find in a cave there. According to him, the cave writing is older than the Harappan seals and this could indicate that Gonds could have migrated from the Tungabhadra region to the Indus Valley. This migration is postulated because the seals and cities of the Indus Valley are more modern phenomena than cave-dwelling. I asked him if any scientific dating has been done on the pictographs found in the Hampi cave. He said not yet. Also, he mentioned that 11 out of the 19 pictographs have been deciphered and also found on the Harappan seals. The rest are absent on the Harappan seals found till now. Dr. Metry is not working on the actual decipherment. That was done by Dr. Motiravan Kangali from Nagpur (his name is also mentioned in The Hindu news item I shared earlier). Dr. Metry promised to send me some material regarding this research. A final report is awaited.
