Just the Facts: Did you know that in Arkansas a family can get government assistance to the tune of $17,423 a year (one of the lowest packages available in the US)....a person making minimum wage can only earn $15,080 a year working full time (168,000 Arkansans). At $8.50 an hour, a single income family can earn $17,680 a year--putting it over the max for welfare. The majority of these minimum wage earners are single parent homes (over 1/3)....not teens (1/4). Whats wrong with this picture? So.....If you were a single parent family earning minimum wage--what would you do? Work for less and slide by, or reach out for more?
