Just thinking: As I was scrolling through the Facebook posts this morning, I saw a lot of my friends wishing a happy 4th of July. It occurred to me that July 4th is simply a date on the calendar and could represent anything. The holiday is Independence Day, the day we celebrate our independence from British control and set the course of this new nation to hold freedom as a very precious commodity that should never be compromised. I know you all mean well and for any American July 4th and Independence Day should be synonymous. But I have to wonder if just mentioning the date says what it needs to say. I think I will stick to using the holiday name instead of the date to remind myself and everyone else what this celebration is really about. Not complaining or condemning, just thinking!
