Just thought Id share a little feel good moment. This is Daisy, my FIV+ foster cat. Daisy spent 5+ years living in the woods near some cabins, constantly having kittens and living off of scraps or whatever she could find. Her ears were damaged from frostbite, she has the classic upper resp damage you see in these kitties. When she first came to us she was very shut down psychologically. Humans were food sources to otherwise hide from. She had two modes - asleep or eating, huddled over her dish watching over her shoulder periodically for predators. Now she has started to remember how it feels to be a cat again, safe, comfortable, plump and happy. I love to see her play and use her voice - something long term outdoor and feral cats do not do. She now enjoys cuddles and will even grab my pant leg for more. Also the black bum in the picture is Leonard, my own FIV+ cat who was also a rescue. He loves his foster sister and follows her everywhere. She is very no nonsense and matronly with him - clawless smack on the face if he gets to close!
