Just thought Id share briefly. A nice little video summary on repetition in music, which I personally like very much. However, the more developed your musical taste is, the more you are able to focus on the repetition of less obvious features that would be missed by most, and not considered repetition! How similar (rhetorical question alert) does an event have to be, to be considered a repeat of the previous one? saying identical is of course the most obvious. But music, like language, allows for telling the same thing in different ways, these can be considered to repeat the same idea yet they may be quite different presentations of the same idea, all the while providing repetition. I guess it depends at which musical level you are focusing your listening. So, if you are looking for motivic repetition you will enjoy Beethovens 5th and if you want exact repetition you will enjoy Daft Punk more. But the notion of repetition is important to both. Anyway, I love grooves, pulse and beat. Even if they get a bit complicated sometimes.
