Just throw more guns at it! thats worked so well thus far! ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A suspect or suspects involved in an unusual daytime shooting in the heart of downtown St. Louis that left two dead and another injured are not in police custody. It happened at about 2:40 p.m. at the corner of 4th and Market streets, catercorner to the historic old courthouse and in front of the Drury Hotel and Tony’s. Witnesses say they heard seven shots or more scattered around a maroon Dodge Caliber. Police say they have only found a few shell casings, but there are many bullet holes in the vehicle. Police Chief Sam Dotson says the downtown shooting began as a drug deal involving heroine and marijuana at the intersection of Gravois and Russell in south St. Louis. Packets of marijuana and heroine were found on a body at the scene. Shots were fired at the South City location, then a car chase began involving a red Oldsmobile Alero chasing the Caliber. The vehicles came to a stop at 4th and Market, where someone inside the Alero opened fire on the Caliber, which was holding five individuals. Dotson says there is no indication that the shooting was gang-related. Dozens of police officers were on the scene, including Dotson and homicide detectives. Police are questioning the three survivors of the shooting.
