Just throwing a little known fun-fact out there. The ghost train scene in Ghostbusters 2 was shot in New Yorks The Tunnel night club which occupies an abandoned subway tunnel with several hundred feet of unused track. A light was placed behind the actors and air cannons were placed on them to blow their hair around. When the cannons blew actor Ernie Hudsons helmet off, the crew used the fans on the actors with the bright light in place of the train. https://youtube/watch?v=ZEgeaoNlSkU An antique 1/8 scale 4-4-0 locomotive and cars which measured 25 feet in length was used and then shot on a black stage at Apogee Studios using a snorkel lens about an 1/8 inch away in clearance all the way down the train. The train was stationary however, rigged with steam and reactive lights in its first appearance in the distance coming down the tunnel. The crew had rheostated the lights so they could dial them up as the camera got closer. The resulting imagery of the train was a transparent rendering that was then super imposed into the action reel.
