Just to add to depth to That great photo from Louise, here is the radar image from roughly that same time. Personally, I think she was lucky enough to witness a mesocyclone, all the characteristics of a tornado... But not quite. These storms are very well organised with inflow/outflow regions & a central major updraft, they are normally a precursor to a tornado forming (but not always). Definitely a severe rated storm & usually have hail as well. Note the colour of the radar image. Awesome stuff! ~ Ben.
