Just to clarify.the pre demo meet on Saturday August 2nd is not some mass drink up,but a means of getting people together to go in a group to the Astley Bridge demo point as lets be fair,the demo point on Blackburn Road is an area that can be intimidating to some especially to women or younger people. By going to the demo in a group,it will make some feel safer.Also if you are attending the demo from out of town,a town centre meet point makes sense as many wont have a clue where the demo is as not everyone has a Sat Nav etc or is familiar with Bolton,plus the demo is over a mile out of the town centre and almost 2 miles from the train station. There wont be lots of drinking before the demo,we will make sure of that.We need to maximise the demo turnout on the day and make it as easy as possible for those outside the town or those in the town who are on their own,to get to the demo on Blackburn Road in the easiest possible way.Anyone who attended the first demo up there will know we faced around 300 Islamic and left wing opponents so therefore an element of security and organisation for those who need it will be given. The pre demo meet point may not be a pub,it could be the town hall steps etc,this will be discussed at the next team meeting next week and we will announce the designated meet point in due course.Of course many will make their way to the demo point at the proposed super mosque under their own steam anyway and thats fine but giving people a choice is best and will help attract a bigger crowd on the day.
