Just to get your attention I am going to give you a couple of paragraphs from my new project....This is an excerpt from the chapter titled NAKED AND UNASHAMED... Later, when Adam and Eve heard the voice of the Lord calling out to them, they hid themselves from Him because they were afraid and ashamed. And God called Adam and said “Where art thou?” Adam answered the Lord and told him that he had heard His voice in the garden and hid because he was naked. Now, is that not just like the rest of us? We sin, we know we have sinned, we are ashamed of what we have done, and we hide from God because we think He does not know we sinned? However, we are lying to ourselves and lying to God and every time, not just sometimes, God calls us on our sins, just like He did Adam. This, also, is the very first incidence of “running from the Lord” because of sin. Gen 3: 11 And he said, who told you that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? 12 And the man said, the woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. 13 And the Lord God said unto the woman, what is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me and I did eat. Yep, there it is…The BLAME GAME…my wife made me do it, the devil made me do it. Etc., etc., etc. There are many, many lessons to be learned from our forefather and foremother! One is that they were perfectly created by God, Himself, in His very image and yet sin caused them to be ashamed of their own creation. We could sit here and blame this one or blame that one for the “original sin” but the truth is the blame lies in an eagerness to be superior and in control. You see, Eve was tempted by the serpent because he told her “she would become wise” and “she would become powerful like gods”. Our desire for power and control cause us to do many, many things. Satan makes the things of the World look pleasing, just like the fruit of that tree. He colors sin in such beautiful ways that it is hard to look away. But, God said “we are not to eat of that tree”! However, like Eve, we are taking our instructions from God “second-handidly” and we, most times, do not have the instructions straight! We go to church, we go to Sunday school, we listen to preaching on the TV, we have read and been read storybooks about what the Holy Scriptures say, but we don’t take it upon ourselves very often to actually sit down and “dig in the Word” to find the TRUTH of God, and what He wants for our lives. Many times we take everyone else’s TRUTH and we wear it as if it were our own. Let me give you this one piece of TRUTH…You are responsible for your own Salvation. You are accountable for your own life. You make your own decisions as to what your spiritual life will be, REGARDLESS, of whether you are following “hearsay” truth, which is someone else’s perception of the TRUTH, OR you are following the real TRUTH of the Word according to how God, Himself, gives it to you in your study of His Word.
