Just to give a little more perspective on some of the intermediate steps that led us to where we are today, here’s a bit of information about the expressed goals of the PNAC (Project for a New American Century). The opening page of their website began with this paragraph: “The Project for a New American Century is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to a few fundamental propositions: that American leadership is good both for America and the world; and that such leadership requires military strength, diplomatic energy and commitment to moral principle.” Nowhere is their concept of “diplomatic energy” or “moral principle defined, but we may conclude that it is whatever they want it to be. In September of 2000 they wrote a report entitled “Rebuilding America’s Defenses”. In it they conclude that their idea of “American peace…. must have a secure foundation on unquestioned U.S. military preeminence.” They go on to say that, “the process of transformation is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event -- like a new Pearl Harbor.” Let’s paraphrase a bit: they were saying, “…we need a new Pearl Harbor to speed things up and push our agenda forward.” And a year later, they were given September 11, 2001, their new Pearl Harbor! It is interesting that among the members were, Donald Rumsfeld, I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, Paul Wolfowitz, Jeb Bush, John R. Bolton and many other notables, as well as Dick Cheney. In April or May of 2001, Cheney was put in charge of FEMA (FEMA is in charge of emergency response) and had control of NORAD. Then in September, the twin towers of the WTC went down, and shortly after that Cheney was taken off FEMA. The rest, as they say is history. Coincidence? Or plan? It appears that the PNAC was founded in the spring of 1997 and although it was claimed that it shut down in 2006, when I did my original research in 2007, their website had last been updated on Feb 8, 2007. Personally, I think they went underground, changed their name and reemerged as something else. One closing thought: There are a lot of empiricists (sp?) out there, if Im spelling the word correctly. The word I intend here, has to do with people who require empirical (still dont know how to spell it) proof. There are many times when such proof simply is not available. In such cases, I trust my own intuition, common sense and the fact that there are just too damned many coincidences, over the naysayers who require proof. These people are part of the hierarchy that have brought us to where we are now. You figure it out. I already have. - JK
