Just to give you all an update on my investigation into further reducing our electricity bill. We have a large 32 panel solar array, feeding into 2 converters and then back into the grid. it is irksome that the units we feed back into the grid are only around 8c return yet the units used are charged to us at 27 or it could be 28 cents a unit. We have been waiting for a new router which can actually bolt onto the existing system as an after market accessory to charge batteries. Basically the batteries charge up during the day and at night, we would draw against them for our power needs. When the batteries ran too low, the system would immediately revert to the mains power in a nano second! The product is currently under going assessment by Western Power before it can be sold to the WA market. ....meanwhile back at the range I was thinking of having a bit of an open day here for people to come along and see our system and maybe speak to the people who installed it about what is happening on the electrical landscape regarding going that next step to a semi off grid system.
