Just to let everyone know William has had a cerebral spinal leak where he had surgery the swelling wasnt just swelling from trauma of surgery. This means William will have to have further surgery to his spine to ensure that the leak is closed. The risk involved includes infections as with any surgery but with this being the spinal fluid it includes risks such as meningitis and pneumonia . This is becoming my worse nightmare . Was told of the risks of sdr but told was so rare , so rare that dr.park said William is the 3rd patient it as happened to since he renewed the technique in nearly 30 years of his practice and 3000 patients undergoing the procedure. Im feeling pretty unlucky at this moment in time and will stay away from betting on any horses ...lets just say I have wept all night screamed hours into my pillow while William slept with his sisters and cried til Im sick..now got my make up on and getting ready to make the most of today with William , my family , my daughters .... his surgery is booked for first thing in the morning at 6.30 . William doesnt know what is happening I havent had the heart to tell him.. I sold him the dream of the special magic on his legs that he would receive before we came , now feel have taking risks I perhaps had no right to choose for him and now could lose him ...Im petrified but trying to keep faith ...I will say this ..William had never laughed so much since he had sdr , hes loved walking with assistance , being able to move more freely , out of pain from spasticity in his legs , his arms even his speech is less strained and he is a totally different boy to the one in pain and crippled by his condition before he had sdr. The week before his scar started swelling was one of my most happiest times of my life being in St. Louis with him in the land of hopes and dreams for Cerebral palsy sufferers like William and seeing the transformation sdr has made in William been magical . I can only only hope and pray now that the risks involved correcting the leak doesnt taint the beautiful memories of seeing William happy for the first time truly happy .please pray for my son and thank you to all those who have supported him so far
