Just want to give a brief little acknowledgement this evening.....And if I leave anybody out, please know that it is NOT intentional and that we appreciate each and every one of our supporters! Approximately 2 weeks ago, Reba Wheeler passed away. Reba was the mother of Missy Miller (one of our long time supporters and friend) and the aunt of Vickie Cunningham (who currently lives in Texas and is also a huge fan and supporter of our humane society). I say all of that to say this. At the request of the family, including Rebas husband, Bob, it was requested that donations be made to charitable organizations and Marion County Humane Society was chosen as one of those recipients. We are honored and blessed to have such wonderful supporters in our communities. Not only was Miss Reba an animal lover, she was a kind, gentle soul who had a heart of gold. She loved her dogs as much as she loved her children. She considered Missys dog, Riley (hope the spelling is correct) one of her granddogs. On a different note, our Vice-President, Cynthia Fowler, and myself had the pleasure of eating dinner this evening at one of the local cafes in Hamilton. While in town, we picked up supplies that had been donated in the bin at Tractor Supply. After dinner, we decided to walk around and check out all of the revitalization going on in Hamilton. We were pleasantly surprised and commend the city of Hamilton for all their hard work. On Monday of this week, Krista, Cynthia and myself had lunch in Winfield at Aromas to discuss some things and do some catching up. Again, the city of Winfield has done some much needed improvements and the downtown area is looking wonderful. And of course, we had to go in and say hello to our long time supporters, Spann Hardware. The town of Bear Creek, Hackelburg, and Brilliant have made some much needed improvements over the last several years and we just wanted to let all of these folks know that, YES, we are noticing. We hope, in the very near future to meet with these city councils again and possibly propose some things that we can work together to try to solve the stray/over population in our county. While MCHS does not pick up strays, they continue to be a problem and one that we are made aware of every single day. Thankfully, we have wonderful rescues such as Sweet Paws Rescue and Pawfect Life Rescue who take in the ones that we do have to take in due to abuse and neglect. Thank you again to ALL of those who support MCHS and we truly appreciate the efforts of all the caring citizens of this county. Keep up the great work and please remember, spay and neuter your pets!
