Just want to give you guys an update on my mom. She had somehow hurt her back getting an EKG last Tues. Her pain was so great I almost took her to the hosp. I waited because being on one of those stretchers wouldnt help. I took her back to the docs today and was told she probably has another compression fracture. At almost 97 w/osteoporosis and arthritis it can happen easily. I was told it wouldnt be worth the x-ray to confirm because she cant get better care than with me. When I asked about pain relief I was told they dont give heavy pain relief to the active elderly because if they get dizzy and fall they could get a hip fracture. I did get liquid Tylenol w/codeine but can only give her 1/2 teap every 6 hrs. Im OK with this and it make sense. Her other doc and the hosp gave her anything she needed so I was more used to that. I also now learned that she no longer needs EKGs because her heart is OK and there are no meds safe for her at her age. (Good ridence to those things) I was told to keep her in which means no Junction Deli for a while. As soon as she is pain free. I will take her out and about again.
