Just want to reflect on the destruction of the Voting Rights Law. Now, I hope people can undeerstand that things such as this are an illusion......my grandmother said, during the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 1960s, that it was not smart to put any faith in these things. She said (and I quote), "Aint no amount of law gonna make these crackas ever like us. Stead of askin them to like us we need to be doin for ourselves"...... My grandmother did not think of herself as a radical or anything other than simply who she was..... And, for me, who she was, was very wise indeed...... So, let´s reflect on the 50 years since this Act was "won"......how far have we come? What condition are our communities in? How has this helped us in any wya at all? And, very very sad to say, we finally got a Black Prez......and what good has it done us? In the end, my grandmother was right......"integration", "equal rights", "multiculturalism", "melting pot", etc......in a place like America, this is nothing but an illusion..... So, for thos epeople who thought things were "better", or who insist that we have "come a long way", well, I hope you all had fun doing the "liberal" era (if there ever was one)..... Now....back to reality.....hope we can all pull otgether, because things are only going to get uglier.....
