Just want to share another personal success story as a result of the Tour Divide. On June 13 I was 192 lbs and after 33 days of exercise (ok, extreme exercise!) I was 171 lbs. I also went from a 36 inch waist to a 32 and a large shirt to a medium. During the race, I tried to eat anything and everything I could find and was ordering double meals with appetizers, dessert, pop, milk, coffee, and water whenever I could. I was eating anything for calories which included numerous amounts of candies, candy bars, nutrition bars, fruit, nuts, drinks (yes beer too!) etc on a daily basis. With 10-12 hours of exercise daily I was obviously burning more calories than I was taking in and my body was using itself for fuel as time wore on. Regardless of the extreme nature of my venture, the point is: Exercise and consistency/frequency of exercise is the key to health and fitness! I didnt realize it at the time but I trained my body to use itself as a fuel source during the event - thus the weight loss. Today I weigh what I did 27 years ago when I got married - pretty cool! Now all I gotta do is put in the work to stay there! The moral of the story: Manage your eating habits and exercise consistently making fitness a part of your daily routine - make it become a habit! Have a great week!
