Just want to share this very nice poem to all of you. Such nice poem from Jennie Hartstein. #LikingYourself With the grace of a dancer, So tiny and small. Pushing herself, Trying not to fall. Turns smiles, pointed toes and tears, Leaping gracefully throughout the years. Trying to keep perfect form, She dances on through the storm. Putting on a bright smile for the stage, She learned at such an early age. She impresses the audience with her talent and poise, But shes really just trying to block out the noise. Cake or candy she dares not touch. She knows one piece is far too much. To fit in her pretty leotard and baby pink tights, No one knows how hard she fights. She sighs and tells herself that this is right, Always striving for the perfect weight and height. She tries not to laugh when she hears someone say, That they would trade places with her any day, Because she sometimes thinks shed give anything to dance Away from this blur, this life so insecure. Always asked about her hopes and her dreams, She silently answers, To be heard and not seen. She accepts it all, her lifelong fight, But she cant help praying every night, Please let me see the graceful girl everyone else can see; The mirrors seen to be hiding her from me. She builds up hope that her wishes, prayers, and dreams will come true someday. And in the meantime, shell continue dancing the days away.
