Just want to state my support of my friends (brothers and sisters) at Guelph Transit! The City has some gall to try and say that their massive OT bill is employees fault in any way! For those not in the know, OT is offered by supervisors (NUME) and bid on by seniority. If there is no OT offered by management, none gets worked! GT implemented a half-baked system change the customers didnt ask for and the drivers couldnt influence in any meaningful way, and due to poor design and a total lack of true management (plenty of supervision tho), OT requirements went through the roof. This is both because of too much work without decompression time leading to increased stress leading to increased sick leave, and also because at its core the new system does not adequately serve demand. Place the blame where the buck stops, and act like real managers, City of guelph! It is a poor carpenter indeed who blames his tools!
