Just wanted to archive this piece to my page. Some great stuff here, and I really like Davids intro when he addresses preservation: I hope my point is not lost that ecological/historical preservation is a fundamentally ambiguous thing. Preservation is, seen in a certain light, an effort to freeze time. It is often a noble undertaking. But where do we begin freezing? How rigid should we be? Whose vision and values are reflected by the results? When we lose sight of the fact that what we actually create through preservation is a physical and cultural landscape of our own design, not something natural and eternal, we run the risk of making silly decisions or, worse, no decisions at all.
