Just wanted to put a quick run down of the events of the last week. Morgan spent all day Sunday throwing up with pain across the whole upper part of her stomach. Monday morning she woke up with a slight fever of 100.7 and pain across the whole lower part of her stomach. There has been a stomach bug going around schools and my work, so we assumed that is what she had. We tried to get as much water and Gatorade in her as much as possible. We then decided to take her to an Urgent Care facility close to home so as not to crowd an ER if not necessary and also avoid as much movement as we could since she was in a lot of pain. They sent us to the ER with thoughts of possible appendicitis. We got to the ER at about 9:30 pm, went straight back, and proceeded with fluids and pain meds through an IV. She then drank contrast fluid to get a CT scan which occurred at about 1 am. Then we were told about 30 minutes later that it was appendicitis, she was going to be admitted, and her surgery would be first thing in the morning. We think sometime between the CT and the moving of rooms, her appendix had burst because both her heart rate and temp rose. We were then taken to her room where she has been ever since. Surgery went well, but since there was a rupture, there was a mess to clean up. She has not run any fever that they were expecting. She got a slight fever of 100 Thursday night, which made them keep her a bit longer. We are now hoping that she will be able to come home around lunch time today without a pic line, and with only a week of oral antibiotics. I want to thank all the doctors, nurses, and complete hospital staff that had any interactions with Morgan. Dr. Farooqui was a great surgeon and has taken great care of our little girl. I would also like to send out our appreciation of your well wishes for Morgan. They have helped her pass some time in that hospital room and brightened her spirits. She feels strong and is eager to get back to her home, her pets, her family, and her friends. She has even asked when she can go back to school.
