Just wanted to put something out there since has been said in the news by those of non-understanding. Allah is not the same as the true God. It is the Muslim understanding of what they think is God. But Allah is Allah and should be left untranslated as just that name. The true and living God made plans and preparation for the salvation of mankind through his only begotten son, (John 3:16). The Muslim faith does not acknowledge Jesus Christ as the son of God, but only as a prophet. Therefore, it is impossible that Allah could refer to the true and living God. So to say that a translation of Allahu Akbar, as the terrorist in Paris shouted, means God is greatest cannot be true and should remain as Allah is greatest. Commentators on television either dont understand this or are trying to be politically correct. So if you are a Christian, dont fall for the rhetoric and understand that words and personal names of the Almighty means something and should not be seen as equal with another religion. This is a terribly short explanation of a complex study, but hopefully that will give you some insight.
