Just wanted to share ten ideas for kitchen updating: 10. Rope lighting under cabinetry or on top. 9. Replace wood panel on a double door cabinet with glass to display cut glass crystal and heirloom Haviland china plates. 8. For a more modern look, there is leatherized, exotic wood or patterned cement counter tops. 7. Along the modern lines, replace your hood range above your stove. There are a variety of styles, but a favorite would be stainless steel exhaust with the curved glass for above your stove. Also comes in copper and wood replica hood. 6. Add a center island. This does not have to be an exact match of your current cabinets, but more of a blend. Darker color-same style, or same color-similar style, etc. A detail that links the 2 together, but not exactly the same. 5. A look I find interesting is different cabinet heights to add dimension- accent cabinets that are taller, or extend further out to catch your eye. 4. Add a different color trim to the top of your cabinets and coordinate with the same color pantry door. 3. Add handles! A simple idea but adds a more polished look. I bought a measure kit at Home Depot, marked and drilled the holes and installed the forged iron handles and knobs. 2. I have different woven baskets on top of my cabinets for shopping or taking food to dinner parties and classroom events. 1. A plumber installed a small hot water tank under my sink and when my granite was placed, they drilled a hole for an additional faucet for instant hot water. I love it!
