Just watched TV patrol featuring about nurses wage. Few of us have knowledge that there is a law stating that nurses must at least have 25,000.00 salary. This is a mediocre. Nurses all over the Philippines barely receive half the said salary. Then i remember another persona non grata mother of my patient that told me inyong sweldo magulang lang sa pangayo. They said there is an over population of nurses in the country. I doubt that. Every hospital in the country suffers from staff shortage. Nurse patient ratio reaches as much as 1:15 or more. Then arrogant patients tell us we are being lazy because we cant stay to perform sponge bath. Most of the nurses even buy their own protective equipment (masks that can cost as much as 200php, gloves and etc.) because the hospital doesnt provide them. Then here comes a ebola infected nurse got blamed because she was infected by the virus. How little respect we get. But despite all that, we are still proud to say we give our best care amidst circumstances. #nursesforchange #justicefornurses
