Just watched part of a movie on BET with 50 Cent called All Things - TopicsExpress

Just watched part of a movie on BET with 50 Cent called All Things Fall Apart. Low budget, but pretty good. First commercial after the movie ended was for some event about smart, beautiful, black women. Fairly often I see things that promote doing what I never thought about doing in my life, and what, when I have seen white folks doing it I found disturbing... celebrating your race. If I were to celebrate my race (though I am mutt like and dont know which race/heritage I would celebrate) it would be more than frowned upon. I would be a racist. I might be a racist just for noting this odd thing where some races/skin colors are encouraged to be proud of their race (even in your face at times), while others are not. I dont even understand the idea of racial pride to begin with, no matter your race. But more, I do not understand why one race/skin color is told to be proud and to make their race the primary part of who they are, while another is told to not do this... to perhaps even feel guilt. I know this is not a new or unique observation on my part. I just found it extra curious this evening for some reason.
