Just watched the Aberdeen debate. Brian Souter was unusually - TopicsExpress

Just watched the Aberdeen debate. Brian Souter was unusually eloquent and showed a united front with Nicola. Annabelle Goldie did her usual talking to the children act that, I suppose, she thinks is effective. I find it annoying and matronising (if I may coin a word). Murphy, as far as I could see, did a pretty good job of convincing everybody hes a sneaky self-seeker wholl say anything to catch a floating voter. Interesting, for example his conflation of NO supporter with patriot - about 3 mins. in left or right, patriot or nationalist. The obviously prerehearsed alliterative Changing your passport has never put a penny in the pocket of a poor person (44mins) sounded great until you thought about it - why did all those Scots emigrate then? And his time-honoured portmanteau last words - he does this a lot - where he brings in a totally unrelated issue to contaminate by association, this time managed to combine university research and shipbuilding on the Clyde (which he hadnt been asked about) (56mins 40 secs). James Cook is shaping up as a fine debate chair who keeps things fair and above board and is not averse to asking an awkward question of anyone or cutting someone off if theyre not answering the question - as he does to Murphy when he was asked if he could promise not to bring back tuition fees in Scotland (52 mins): (Cook) OK, youre not going to answer it, I want to hear more of what the audience thinks. Good for you, James! https://youtube/watch?v=TxkGl_NPl08
