Just watching a story about charter schools on Campbell Live right now, and theyre talking about the Villa Education Trust. What struck me is that one of the charter schools own teachers said one of the key reasons they could do a better job than the public system was because they have a small teacher:pupil ratio of only 1:15. They also dont charge school fees. So in other words, theyre doing exactly what Labour wants to do with the public school education system!!! What angers me is that of course these charter schools are going to be successful, because they receive FIVE TIMES AS MUCH FUNDING PER PUPIL as a state school! $29,000 per child! They are funded by the taxpayer but are allowed to keep the profits - that is an absolutely disgusting waste of taxpayers money when our state schools and health system are desperate for more funding.
