Just went to the town center produce stand . NEVER again.. thats all I can say.. I even told the owner . Look. this spaghetti squash is DRIIPPING rotten.. He said but its only 99 cents a pound what do you expect me to do? . I showed him rotten corn, rotten squash, rotten mangoes .. Im talkiing rotten like brown and mushy. He said he has it reduced.. I nicely told him that its better to NOT have it there than to lose a customer forever.. Hes a really nice guy and Ive tried to support him. I keep checking back every couple weeks to see if anything is different.. but its worse. I even suggested that he buy stuff from our local growers.. like the greens and sprouts from PI Botanicals.. or that he can have produce that doesnt go bad quickly .. like specialty gingers.. shitake and porcini specialty mushrooms, and other winter squashes like Turbin or Calabaza.. sold usually in giant slices for a couple dollars each... He said NO to every suggestion...I suggested he have free coffee if hes trying to sell $8.00 a bag coffee which is why no one will buy it. .. I suggested he have herb plants.. they dont go bad and everyone likes to pick up a little parsley or basil herb plant. The place was a DISGRACE.. disgusting... I even suggested he does a loss leader. which is to more or less give a way a product to get people in your store.. Like do pineapples at cost for %1.00 each or Tomatoes.. fifty cetns a pound.. just to get people in there. I suggested home made breads.. I suggested specialty bread since he sells olive oil and cheese.. to do an herb dip, baguette and olive oil.. have samples.. its cheap to sample cubes of bread... then folks might buy the cheese, olive oil, some tomato and do a little Italian spread.. A real shame..
