Just what you want to find out 2 days before you take an international trip: I got an email from my credit union in the States, wanting me to call them and discuss possible fraudulent transactions. I thought they just were being paranoid about a U.S.-based debit card being used multiple times in France; Ive had my account frozen before for nothing more than that. However, when I called I was informed that there is apparently a counterfeit copy of my card that someone has been trying to use in Sofia, Bulgaria...suspects are anyone who has ever swiped my card through a card scanner...in such a case theres no solution but to block the card, and Im not getting a new card issued and sent from San Francisco to Paris by tomorrow afternoon...keeping the card open is obviously not an option, because my account will be drained by an unscrupulous stranger somewhere in Eastern Europe, but this means my money is inaccessible to me on my trip...has anyone had a situation like this? Any suggestions?
