Just when I thought I was fearless. ..... (What would you have done?) The other day CJ and I watched a large turtle make his (or her) way across the yard and around the building. It was heading in the direction of the parking lot but I wasnt sure what his plans were and didnt want to interrupt, so we watched from our porch swing while he poked along (!omahgahsoooocutesqueeeeel!). We had prior engagements that pulled us from our observations but I was a bit concerned it would get to the parking lot and ....bad things would happen. Soooooo, I decide to relocate the turtle and take him to the wooded area behind my building. Ummmm....nevermind that whole awkward scenario, I was obviously making the turtle and I both extremely uncomfortable. Me: Hmmm, what if he pees on me, or snaps at me then I freak out and drop him and cause brain damage??!!! Oh gosh, no!! Turtle: what if she steps on me, or throws me like a fooball, oh gosh, HIDE! Needless to say, I let him do his turtle thing and went on. Thennnnnnnn, last night pulling up the driveway. .......I see smushed turtle....... My thoughts: Never let fear keep you from doing what needs to be done. You just might save a life. ***I understand there are some turtles (animals in general) that you need not intervene with for a variety of reasons. But...this guy...he probably needed it :/
