Just when you are ready to quit fighting, something happens that gives you a shot of energy to keep fighting. I got one from my local news paper, the Winnsboro News. One of the front page headlines reads; Wood County against proposed water rule. It seems that our commissioners voted unanimously in favor of a resolution opposing the EPAs new definition of Waters of the United States under the Clean Water Act. It seems they have looked at the regulations that strangle and burden farmers and ranchers. It is great that the Texas Farm Bureau has taken a position against this expansion of authority that the EPA and U.S. Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) is grabbing for. They point out that the EPA and UACCE are selectively interpreting Supreme Court decisions regarding jurisdictional authority under the Clean Water Act. (CWA) This is an infringement of the states sovereignty and is another over reach of the federal government into our lives. Not to mention infringement of private property rights and entail obtaining costly, burdensome permits for many daily projects. We dont need this, contact your local county commissioners and tell them to talk to the Farm Bureau office and see what can be done to stop it before it starts.
