Just when you thought things couldnt get any worse... Instead of preventing homelessness, they are doing the opposite... Anyone know anything about this? Apparently landlords who refuse to sign up to HAP, causes the rent allowance for their tenants to end abruptly causing tenants to be evicted.... Posted with kind permission... Dear Sirs! Maybe you can help me with this .... I with my family will be homeless from end of January ! Because my landlord and all Landlords wont participate in Housing Assistance Payment so the Rent Allowance is suspended !!!!! This is ABSURD !!!!! I NEED HELP! What should I do? Welfare officer wants me to move out to a place where landlord will accept that scheme! Nobody wants to accept that scheme as I was informed about this from the agency who is acting on behalf of landlords. NO-ONE. I am living at my apartment for more than 7 years. This is crazy situation! My Rent Allowance is suspended, I am forced to move out where I cant afford it, my deposit is blocked by renting agency, no money for next month to pay a rent, no money for deposit for new apartment, we will be homeless ?? .... HAP is actually making people homeless !! Is it true that landlord must participate in that scheme? They accept rent allowance so why they cant accept this HAP ? Because they dont pay tax? and we are not registered in PRTB? Agency did not want to give me contact to my landlord and dont allow me to contact her. I know her name and I got her PPS only. Another thing is that my apartment is on market and is probably during negotiation with new owner ... I dont know what to do! .... I want to stay here. I want to go on that HAP. What should I do?
