Just wondering if anyone can offer some advice about a negative grooming experience. My bichon frise went to the groomers on Tuesday and I agreed that she would need to shaved quite close as she was very matted around her rear end. When I picked her up she seemed a little shell shocked but I had expected this as it was only her 2nd grooming experience and it was a severe cut. The groomer pointed out that she had noticed a little blood on the tip of her ear and admitted that it may have happened while she was cutting her or that my pup may have scratched herself. I wasnt too concerned but by the time we got home it was clear that the groomer had nicked her as both ears were bleeding quite heavily. She was very subdued and clingy the rest of the evening and because she was so traumatised I left her ears alone once the bleeding had stopped. However the following day I noticed a massive cut on her face!! It is quite substantial but she obviously wont let me touch it. All three cuts have scabbed over but they are areas that she scratches and they are obviously itching her so they keep bleeding! Most worryingly is her new behaviour! She has always been THE most settled pup I have known and while she has always enjoyed a cuddle she is an independent lady but since this she gets anxious when I leave, has had a few indoor accidents and stayed up ALL night barking! She has never been like this and she is just not herself! What is the best way to handle this? Do I get her back to the groomers ASAP and keep her familiar or wait until shes due to go again? I dont want her to develop a fear as she is one of those high maintenance dogs that has no choice but to have regular visits!! Many thanks for any advice!
