Justice Charles Evans Hughes (1862-1948): A man has to live with - TopicsExpress

Justice Charles Evans Hughes (1862-1948): A man has to live with himself, and he should see to it that he always has good company. It is important to know how to be alone with yourself. There is a composure gained in the certainty that you like your own company just fine. When we are solid in our own right, it is a delight to have a circle of friends that engage us and challenge us and stretch us. I will get to spend time with just such a group of women tonight. We have ridden some of the most hair-raising life rollercoasters together. You know the ones - breath-taking heights and then drops that lift you from the safety of your seat, suspended and disoriented. It is such a comfort to know that we can hold hands and scream together. Actually, we hold hands and pray together. We never run out of things to talk to God about. Something tells me we never will! Often, when we gather at a restaurant, we have our server in the circle so we can pray with and for her too! I am so very thankful for my friends of the heart. They are willing to stay and willing to be vulnerable and willing to be honest in their life journey, but most of all, willing to look to God. And that makes all of the difference in the world! Psalm 37:27-28 The Message (MSG) 27-28 Turn your back on evil, work for the good and don’t quit. GOD loves this kind of thing, never turns away from his friends.
