Justice For Yasmin I am a single mother of two children, who has been fighting Ovarian Cancer since September of 2010. I have been employed by Delta Airlines since January of 2001. Currently, I am an Airport Customer Service Agent in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In 2010 I was diagnosed with a very aggressive Ovarian Cancer stage 4. Fortunately by having chemotherapy and an operation along with taking herbal medication, I was in remission in 2011. Unfortunately, my Cancer has come back and radiation treatment is means to only prolonging my life for a short time. My fight today and for the last 3 years is not only with Cancer but with my Employer Delta Airlines and Bank Desjardins over the wrongful termination of my Life Insurance policy. As a single mother and the only wage earner, I understood the importance of preparing the financial security for my children in case of my death. I don’t want my children to suffer financially in addition to emotionally at the time of my death. Cost of funeral and burial can easily run into thousands of dollars. Like most parents, I want to make sure my kids are well taken care of and can afford a college education. In addition to providing income to cover the debt and their living expenses and making sure that my children will have a roof over their heads. Once I purchased the life insurance through my Employer, I felt safe and secure that I am well taken care off. I had a “ Peace of Mind”. Thats what we all buy into, a “Peace Of Mind” until one day when I became so sick and was dying that I found out that My Employer whom I trusted with all my heart and the Insurance company would not honor their contract. Since then the fight for my life against Cancer has become secondary. These two companies demanded all my time and energy. I am not only fighting for my life but for my rights as a human being and as a Canadian citizen . No one should have to go through such a nightmare especially when they are fighting a deadly disease. “Peace Of Mind” I no longer have. They destroyed all my trust and faith in them. They have deceived me all these years. I will not rest until this problem is acknowledged. I don’t want this to happen to another worker, another human being. I don’t want it to happen to your sister, mother, brother, father, your sons and daughters. I have no choice but to file a lawsuit against these two companies. I will be representing myself in this lawsuit since no lawyer wants to take my case. Theyre all afraid that I would die and they would not get paid.
