Justin and Lisa Hancock live in one of our communities, the - TopicsExpress

Justin and Lisa Hancock live in one of our communities, the Cochran House in central Dallas. Justin is an ordained deacon in the United Methodist Church, and Lisa is completing her Masters in Theological Studies, and hopes to move into a Ph.D. program in the fall. Justin has cerebral palsy, and uses a powered wheelchair for mobility. During their time in community, Justin and Lisa have become convinced that new monastic communities designed for people with physical and/or mental differences could be life-giving additions to the Christian community as a whole. They are undertaking significant research and development on this topic in an initiative they are calling The Julian Way after Julian of Norwich. The Missional Wisdom Foundation is working with Justin and Lisa to further their research in this important area of church growth. The capital raised in this campaign will be used by the Foundation to provide stipends, transportation, travel expenses and logistical support to Justin and Lisa to allow them to travel to sites around the United States to learn best practices from communities innovating in the full incorporation of those who are disabled. The Foundation hopes to purchase a wheelchair accessible van with the proceeds along with other equipment needed to allow Justin and Lisa to continue their important research.
