End of an Era!! 2014-09-12 After 20 years and 177 SGP Events, Greg will miss his first Speedway Grand Prix due to the extent injuries he suffered in the Polish Grand Prix in Gorzow Poland on August 30th. Greg has been working overtime to be fit for the Nordic SGP in Vojens Denmark tomorrow, but there has not been enough time for the fingers on his left hand to heal to be where he can properly race and not be a danger to himself and his fellow racers. After having a special brace fitted to his left hand and a test session today in Sweden, Greg had to make the heartbreaking decision to pull out of Nordic SGP. “It has been a hard day for me. The injuries could have been a lot worse. I have worked very hard to try to compete but I will now focus my energy towards Stockholm.” said Greg. Greg said, “It is heartbreaking to see his ever-present status end but I have to look towards the future and the World Championship.” With a 14-point lead in the World Championship standings going into Vojens, Greg will continue to work hard to be fully fit for the next round in the Friends Arena in Stockholm. He is disappointed that he is not able to compete for both Piraterna and Grupa Azoty Unia Tarnow in their play-off semi-finals. “It is so hard to sit on the sidelines with so much at stake.” said Greg. “We have worked so hard to get where we are this year.” Greg wishes all his fellow competitors the best of luck tomorrow and would like to thank his fans, sponsors, clubs, friends and family for their support.
