***Juveniles at the Leinster Athletics Cross Country, Dunboyne, 27th October 2013*** The day got off to a good start at the Cowpark, Dunboyne on Sunday the 27th of October where in the Girls Open Under 10 Race the girls team made up of Kayla Ryan, Aoife McCormack, Aideen Reilly, Sinead McGee, Niamh Sherlock, Lorena Harrisson, Lucy Eglington and Kate Griffin took bronze in the opening race. The club will present the medals at the Christmas Party girls. The boys team came in 4th in the Boys Under 10 race, just outside the medals. (List of Competitors lost so please send in names lads) Next up were the Under 12 Girls team filled by Doireann NI Fhlatharta ,Lauren McConnell, Emma Lyons, Aisling Lyons, Orla Dempsey, Eimear Byre, Anna Griffin and Crea Farrell who finished a respectable 8th in the Team Competition and when the fact that we were missing several athletes through illness and other sporting commitments on the day is taken into consideration this was a decent result. Lauren, Doireann and Aisling were three of the six scorers for the Inter County Competition where Meath finished sixth. In the Boys Under 12 Events Jack Brown led Conor Leane, Mark Leane, Ben Manning, Tadhg O Muircheartaigh and Patrick Burke home, the boys finished in tenth place in the Team Competition. However the team was missing several of the older and more experienced members who again were unavailable due to other commitments. Well done to Jack and Conor who by being inside the top ten Meath competitors to finish will automatically be selected for the Meath Team that qualified for All Irelands. Both these Dunboyne Athletes were not members of the Meath Team for the Inter County Competition which finished in 4th to qualify for the All Irelands-had they being eligible to score the Meath Team would have medalled in this competition. The highlight of the day came in the Under 14 Girls race where Nicola Duffy came home second in an impressive run. Nicola qualifies for the All Irelands both as an individual and as a County Team member due to the fact that she was a member of the Meath Team that finished second in the Inter County Competition. In the Under 14 Boys race both Oisin McGovern and Rory Keanan made their debut in Leinster Competition as members of the Meath County Team as did Lauren Fowler in the Under 16 Girls races. Well done to all. A special mention should be made in relation to Lucy Eglington who fell and got spiked, and just reacted by getting up and finishing the race without any fuss. Also Emma Lyons put in such an effort that she needed medical treatment to help her recover after finishing her race. Both girls showed great character and made all coaches very proud. A special thanks to all coaches, parents and young athletes who helped run this Leinster Event. There is a lot of effort and time put into the running of an event of this size and tasks such as grass cutting, course set up, parking arrangements, catering etc to be carried out. It was nice to see the Juvenile Section (and their Families) join the older members of Dunboyne AC in the running of this event in the Cowpark.
