Juventus to bolster defence in January transfer window? Will - TopicsExpress

Juventus to bolster defence in January transfer window? Will defence be the focus? It looks like Juventus are going to be busy after all in the upcoming January transfer window. Days after Director General Beppe Marotta announced that the Bianconeri are looking for a player to fit the ‘trequartista’ role in the side, he also announced that Juve will also be adding a defender. Whether the player will be a centerback or a fullback remains to be seen, and could depend on the quality and competition for who’s available. Rolando of Porto is an uncompromising central defender. Born in Cape Verde, the 29 year old is a naturalized Portuguese citizen who has 19 caps for the national side. He has previous experience of playing in the Serie A after loan terms at Napoli and Inter Milan. Rolando is by no means one for the future, rather he will be stepping in for Andrea Barzagli who has barely seen the pitch this season due to injuries. The Portuguese defender is under contract until the end of the 2015-16 season, but is yet to feature in a single game for Porto this season. Porto are said to be looking for €1m for a six-month loan, and another €6m to make the move permanent at the end of the season. Juve are looking to pay about half that, offering €500,000 for the loan with an option to buy for €4m. Another name that has been linked with Juve is Tottenham’s Vlad Chiriches. The Romanian international is 25 and is said to be unhappy about the lack of playing time in London, and could command a steep transfer fee as he is being pursued by the Bianconeri’s Scudetto rivals Roma. Chiriches has some experience in the defensive midfield position and his ability to play the ball out of defence is considered a strong point. Juve have already been rebuffed in their attempts to bring youngster Daniele Rugani back early from his loan spell at Empoli. Two other possible names they have been linked with are Austrian international Aleksandar Dragovic currently at Dinamo Kiev, and Stefan Savic at Fiorentina. The Croatian Savic could be particularly expensive as the Viola would only let him go if Giovinco would be part of the deal. Finally, Barcelona’s right back Martin Montoya has also been mentioned as being on Massimiliano Allegri’s radar. The manager’s four man backline has worked quite well this season and he is said to be eager to get a proper fullback in the squad allowing him to use Stephan Lichtsteiner in a more offensive manner. Montoya, a product of Barcelona’s famed La Masia youth academy, has not had much playing time since the arrival of Luis Enrique at the club. #Football/Soccer, #Italy-SerieA, #Juventus, #Sports #Sports, #Africa, #Animals, #Arts, #Asia, #Auto, #Boxing, #BreakingNews, #Business, #Cartoon, #Celebrity, #Cinema, #Culture, #Education, #Environment, #Europe, #FightClub, #Fights, #Football, #Health, #Humor, #Italy, #Juventus, #Lgbt, #Milan, #MMA, #Moto, #Music, #News, #Newzwolf, #Oceania, #People, #Politics, #SerieA, #Soccer, #Streetfight, #Technology, #UFC, #USA, #War, #Warzone, #World
