K-MARTS OPENING AT 6:00 AM THANKSGIVING DAY!!! Shameful. Targets opening an hour earlier this year at 8:00 pm in the evening which is better than K-Mart and slightly more reasonable, but if every year it gets an hour earlier then soon it will be just like K-Mart. (Also, what many people who arent in retail might not know is that people have to come in Thanksgiving morning to set up the store, and then come back later that evening to open it!) Heres my response that I wrote on The Huffington Post: We must pass a law that will prohibit any businesses (except essential ones like gas stations, trains, buses, airports, hospitals, police and fire stations, etc.) from being open on the holidays so that EVERYONE can spend time with their families. Thats what the holidays are supposed to be about. They are not supposed to be about Black Fridays or shopping. It is a time to be thankful, relax, and enjoy a moment of peace with the people you care about and love. America, have you forgotten? If we dont pass a law, every year stores will open earlier and earlier until EVERY STORE will just be open on Thanksgiving Day like it is completely normal and expected. And thats not right for all those people who will have to work and wont get to spend time with their families. PLEASE, JUST LET PEOPLE SPEND THESE 2 DAYS (Thanksgiving & Christmas) ONCE A YEAR WITH THEIR FAMILIES ALL YOU CORPORATIONS!!! If people really want to shop for deals, they can stay at home and shop from their computer, tablet, or smart phone and get deals that way. Maybe instead of waiting for Cyber Monday, make it Cyber Thursday or Cyber Friday or Cyber Weekend so people dont have to wait until Monday. Surely, we can figure something out!!!
