K is for Kalunga. The golden Lioness, recently rescued by the White Lion Trust. You may have read about her tragic story. At just 6 months old, her entire pride was gunned down right in front of her eyes. Somehow she survived and managed to continue to survive, alone up until a few months ago, in a reserve close to the White Lion Trust land. Thankfully the people who own this reserve asked Linda and Jason if they would be willing to take her on, to return her to pride life. They said YES! So over the past few months she has been slowly, carefully introduced to the pride that she will now live free with, she has bonded really well with Tswalu, another golden Lioness and she may well go onto have cubs of her own, when the timing is right for her. Naturally. Allowed to raise her own cubs. Living on protected land, as free as she can be in these times we live in. The anti poaching teams risk life and limb to protect the Lions across the reserve and are so passionate about it. Thank God for them. Kalunga may even go on to give birth to a white lion cub. It is quite possible. Timbavati is the only region where White Lions are naturally occurring. Time and destiny will tell. In the meantime Kalunga is really getting back into her confidence, hunting with Tswalu and bringing down Wildebeest and Zebra, with grace and power. She even recently successfully prevented a stunning Leopard from taking one of her kills. This young Lioness has real majesty and courage! I was so lucky to meet her when I was there in February and she melted my heart instantly. I could also feel her huge power and courage too and felt so elated that the WLT had been given the opportunity to allow her to flourish with her own kind once more, in the relative safety of the reserve. PLEASE help Kalunga, even if its just £1 - the trust needs funding to feed, protect and continue to expand their reserve. Every penny counts and is so very appreciated. Please become a part of conservation history and help rebuild the damage humanity has and is today causing to these most sacred and beautiful king of the beasts. Thank you so much for caring. Love Julie XXXXX
