K so last time i forgot to mention that i remember calling the police another time that wasnt an auto accident when i saw a prisoner trying to escape from a corrections officer who was about 2/3 his size - i am pretty sure God told me to call in backup for the poor guy & that would be a better solution than my 1st thought of getting personally involved by trying to help restrain him myself. Well i dunno if the guy was guilty or innocent; but i do know that once you are in custody, escaping is a crime & if you are innocent you are supposed to trust the system to figure that out & let you go. That is where having your own personal relationship with God comes in really handy as when He is on your side, it is better than having OJ Simpsons all star team of defense lawyers. Dt 17:14 When thou art come unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, and shalt possess it, and shalt dwell therein, and shalt say, I will set a king over me, like as all the nations that are about me; 15 Thou shalt in any wise set him king over thee, whom the LORD thy God shall choose: one from among thy brethren shalt thou set king over thee: thou mayest not set a stranger over thee, which is not thy brother. 16 But he shall not multiply horses to himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt, to the end that he should multiply horses: forasmuch as the LORD hath said unto you, Ye shall henceforth return no more that way. 17 Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold. 18 And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites: 19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them: 20 That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel. K so here we see God prophesying that in the future the people will get king envy & want to set one up for themselves as a symbol to other nations of their might & equality on the world stage as a self governing body or nation because as we learn when they do it later on they found themselves in a place where they didnt really want to listen to God like how that line we saw earlier went - Ex 20:19 And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die. - their fear of having a personal relationship with God & settling for doing it via a human mediator left them open to dissatisfaction with the mediator & a desire to not want to listen to God at all if His representative has some faults you dont like - Cp. 1 Sam 8:7 And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them. - So one of the messages or thoughts that comes to mind is that we are to be paying more attention to the message than the messenger & this same thought will come back around a few other ways & times as we go on. In any case the section says that when they get around to choosing a king for themselves these will be the rules: 1) YHVH will choose the king not you. 2) Said king will be a blood descendant of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob & not someone from another tribe who has been adopted. 3) Said king is not to use his position to make himself wealthy by stockpiling horses. 4) Said king shall never lead you to go back to Egypt as YHVH said never go back or remember Lots wife. 5) Said king is not allowed to let himself get distracted from his duties by stockpiling wives as they will lead his heart to do all sorts of strange things instead of what he is supposed to be doing. 6) Same as above rule #3 only this time talking about silver & gold. {This next one is one that i feel applies to each & every one of us if you are like me & think that Rev 1:5-6 means that while you are working for Jesus He has in the present tense made you a king & a priest & as a result it is one of the inspirations for this verse by verse, chapter by chapter study of the bible as even if i am copying & pasting; i am still writing every scripture in the bible down for myself & other people to read it if i finish the project} 7) Said king is to make his own copy of the words of YHVH & keep it with him & read it every day so as to learn to respect YHVH & treasure up in his heart so that nobody can steal them & agree to & obey the His words. Following these rules will prevent said king from getting a big head & keep him from straying off the path of righteousness so that he & his children may have long lives here on earth. K so as we go on later we will see just about every one of these rules broken by Israels kings & if i remember correct only 1 or none of them was reported as obeying the 7th rule which looks to me to be one of the most important. Maybe none of the kings said Lets go back to Egypt. but there are prophecies about how they were trying to make an alliance with them for war & it would not do them any good - Isa 36:6 Lo, thou trustest in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him. - well the context of that one wasnt a prophecy, but a messenger from an invading kingdom was saying they already had an alliance with Egypt that wasnt going to help them during the upcoming invasion. Ok so ima quit here as last time went really long & so until next time when we enter the next chapter let us praise God that we did not choose to be kings but God chose us (Jn 15:16). Let us praise God that Gal 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. - Jesus has the power to fully adopt us gentiles into the family of Abraham so that we are no longer considered the mixed multitude who are not one of their brothers & so now we are allowed to become kings like them. Let us pray that we learn the lesson that we are not to stockpile wealth but share it with other people as a righteous king should. Let us pray that we never lead anyone else or ourselves back into service to the world & its king the devil. And let us pray that we chose our spouse wisely (by listening to Gods instructions on the matter) so that they are on the same page spiritually as us like the be ye not unequally yoked with unbelievers bit teaches us so that they will not be a detriment to our spiritual growth by leading us astray from Gods purpose in our lives. Also let us pray that we read the bible every day & study the word of God so thoroughly that we have written the whole thing out as we are supposed to & let that study lead us to a relationship with God that will cause us to want to obey His word. Also i might as well pray that just as i was inspired by someone else; this study i am doing inspires other people to do the same as we all should study the bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter.
