KAJIADO LAND OWNERS VS KETRACO -JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED About 400 community members gathered today at Ilmasin Primary School, Kajiado West to discuss on the biased, unfair and unjust KETRACO treatment of the Kajiado Community along its gridline. The reasons why the community is appealing against KETRACOs skewed way leave payments: 1. Homes along the grid lines were not compensated 2. Favoritism against the Maa community since the Kamba community was compensated 85% of the value of land while the Maasai were compensated at 30% 3. KETRACO denied the community to have its own valuers and only the Company’s valuers were involved. 4. Some of the parcels crossed by the grid lines have not been surveyed 5. Disturbance allowance of 15% of the land value was not paid to the land owners. 6. Though the way leave agreements were written, no copy was given to the land owners in the community this is blackmail. 7. There were different land value rates offered to different land owners in the same geographical location, hence it shows KETRACO was not fair and this amounts to practice of impunity 8. Some families were served with a court order while it was the whole community that was affected . RESOLUTIONS OF THE COMMUNITY MEETING HELD AT ILMASIN 10TH JANUARY 2015: 1. KETRACO wiring must stop until the case in court is completed. 2. The conflict between the community and KETRACO is civil not criminal therefore the use of police force is unacceptable and the community will fight for their rights in all ways possible until justice is realized. 3. The community shall sue KETRACO to get full justice on the above with immediate effects 4. The community will only accept dialogue if KETRACO agrees to compensate the community the remaining 55%.
