KALALAU TRAIL IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED DUE TO FLASH FLOOD WARNING LIHUE -- The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) today closed the Kalalau Trail at 11 am to hikers and campers, as a safety precaution due to forecasts of thunderstorms and the possibility of locally heavy rainfall for Kauai county through Tuesday. A "trail closed" sign is posted at the trailhead. This closure will stay in effect until staff can inspect the condition and safety of the trail once the storm system has passed. # # #
