KAMVA SAYS Academic Honours have become the next big thing at Queens and the numbers will differ as the years go by. Either they will increase or decrease, writes KAMVA SOMDYALA IT IS AN HONOUR Academic Awards were made this morning and what a great sight to see it was as lads made their way to the stage to collect the returns of their efforts. However, 4 pupils stood out today. Ill give the background story first: Last year a record number of Queenians were awarded Honours, and the notion was that the Class of 2014 wouldnt be able to match it. It seemed impossible. And the critics werent far off in their views. Word was the Class of 2014 wouldnt get one Honours recipient. Not even one ! Look, last years achievement is in a league of its own, however being a write-off would have served as much motivation, more so for the front runners. Today, we do by our presence pride ourselves in the achievement of the lads awarded Academic Honours (Siya Mabuto, Sive Makombe, Jake Jacob & Joel Smith) and as an emotional Sive said afterwards, It Is An Honour We now look forward to more and more Honours Awards as the years go by, because as Mr Boy alluded to in assembly, Academics is out first priority, then everything else comes second.
