#KARACHI: Arjumand Hussain, who was one of the main proponents and had filmed the protest against #VIP culture aboard PK-370 on September 16 in which Senator #RehmanMalik and #PMLN Ramesh Kumar were off loaded, has reportedly been terminated from job. His former employers, however, have clarified that his sacking did not not have anything to do with the incidents aboard that flight. Hussain, who was the general manager of a multinational courier and logistics company, had been sacked. It was possible that his termination was linked to his actions on PK-370. However, Gerry’s Group issued a statement early on Tuesday where they confirmed that Hussain had been sacked, but clarified that he was terminated on merit and not for his involvement in the PK-370 incident. A message, posted on their official Facebook page said that owing to a “flood of tweets and comments on Facebook” over former FedEx-Gerry Group General Manager Hussain’s sacking, they felt it was important to convey their side of the story. Gerry’s said every professional organisation has the right to review the settlement with its employees based on their performance. They added that they had been considering the decision to sack Hussain lately. “Our decision [to sack Hussain] is based purely on merit.” On September 16, Senator Rehman Malik and PML-N MPA Ramesh Kumar were forced off #PIA flight PK-370 flying from Karachi to Islamabad by a group of passengers for delaying the flight for two hours. PIA claimed that the flight was not delayed because of the Senator or the minister but due to technical fault. However, it later admitted that the flight had in fact been delayed due to the Parliamentarians. Hussain led a group of irate passengers aboard the PIA flight to first force Kumar off the plane and then they did not allow Malik to board. Gerrys Group
